A is for Apple!

Apple week in our room was quite a success! We are truly learning so much and making great progress every week! Being this crew's teacher is such a joy.

Our apple week brought with it lots of hands-on fun! We had a blast making our "apple shakers", doing apple texture rubbings, and doing apple stamping to work on patterns. We also enjoyed getting to taste test different types of apples to create a graph of our favorites. We even got to go "apple bobbing" with tongs (all the while practicing taking turns nicely, following directions, and counting).

To go along with this week, we also read several apples books, including Apple Countdown, Apples, and The Biggest Apple Ever. We focused on the letter A... writing it, painting it with Q-tips, and finding the letter in books. We also practiced writing all the colors of apples (red, green, and yellow) in our poem for this week. See what else you can do with this poem in the poetry folder!

In our table centers, we worked on sorting different sized apples, counting apples out onto an apple tree (on our floor), and practicing taking turns by playing a caterpillar card game. We are turning into math experts in our class! In addition to this math fun, we built our fine motor skills with "hammering nails" (hammering golf tees) into apples.

Many weeks, we will try to "write the room" in our writing center... This week, they could look for apple cards around the room that had pictures beginning with different sounds. They then traced these letters on their clipboard. (This is a fun activity for home too!)

We topped off our fun this week by making (and trying) baked apples and apple volcanoes!

Our Bible focus continued to be on creation, this time Day 3! We celebrated that God made the land, plants, and trees.

We look forward to being back together this coming week! Until then, see if your child can...

1. Tell you what happened on Days 1-3 of creation (you might use our song again at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6GHjqks4pY

2. Count objects around the house and write that number down. (We have practiced writing 1-3.)
3. Tell you the parts of an apple and help you make something with apples.
4. Find three things in your house that start with the letters T and A.
5. Make an AB pattern with you.

Sorting is an important skill!

We did lots of painting this week!

Building apples trees in our sensory bin!

Look at our letter writing skills!

"I did it Mrs. Rachel!"

Hammering is sure a lot of fun!

We did so well taking turns!

We practiced red light, yellow light, green light
with our apple shakers!

Red or green... Which do you like?

Counting apples on our apple tree!

We love to build with our friends!

Fun in the sun!

The birthday boy!

Someone was just a little excited
to share her "All About Me" box!
