Our First Week!

We had a great first week in our class! We truly had so much fun together, and Mrs. Andrea and I feel so blessed to teach each of these sweet kiddos this year.

As part of our first week, we celebrated how God created us all as special and unique individuals. Our theme was All About Me! We talked about how thankful we are that God made each of us, and everyone got a chance to paint a beautiful self portrait. (You can find your child's beautiful artwork in the back of the room on the mirror!) We read the book I Like Myself and Chrysanthemum as we discussed all being individuals and all being valued by God. Mrs. Andrea and I also enjoyed doing "All About Me" and measurement pages with each student that will be added to your child's portfolio to be sent home at the end of the year. To go along with our theme, we even got introduced to our class set of rhythm sticks singing to the song "Thank You Lord for Making Me!"

We also introduced alphabet work with the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and some fun activities that went along with it. In our centers, we enjoyed matching letters on palm tree mats, building our name with a fun palm tree craft, and practicing stamping. To go along with this book, we even went on a letter rescue/letter hunt! (If you haven't read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom before, it is a fun one for working on letters!) We got our routine for learning centers in place and practiced staying at our stations. Everyone did such a great job!

We have Bible stories and verses that every class at LAP does, and this week's story was the parable of the wise and foolish builders. Our class will be doing interactive Bible story time each day, so make sure to ask your child if they can remember the story. To practice the song we learned together, you can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eu5bBDRpzPM.

We cannot wait to grow and learn each week!

Look at all of these sweet, smiling faces!

We rocked our learning centers this week!

We all played so well together outside!

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom! Will there be enough room?

We loved painting and sharing our self-portraits!
