We had another fun week in our class! This week, Andrea and I are amazed at how great of friends everyone in our class is becoming! Each week, we see their relationships with one another develop. As their teachers, Andrea and I feel that this is so important and so very exciting to see.
We had a fun week learning about fall weather and how leaves change in the fall. We enjoyed reading several fall books about fall activities, weather, and the change in the leaves. We also enjoyed creating out our own leaf man puppets and doing leaf printing. We loved cutting leaves and looking at all of the different leaves that we brought in from our yards!
In the past two weeks, we introduced the concept of sight words... Our first two have been "I" and "a". Our poem "A Fall of Colors" helped us find these sight words in text. (These are in poetry folders.) We also spent a lot of time reviewing the letters we have done so far this year, even with a fun fall tree beginning sounds game! Our new letter of the week was letter B... We had fun making our B is for Beans craft!
To go along with our leaf theme, we also enjoyed doing leaf rubbings, tracing leaves, and counting leaves. To practice our fine motor skills, we laced fall foam beads onto pipe cleaners and used our finger prints to stamp "leaves" on a tree.
We started a new Bible verse for November: "I will give thanks to God with my whole heart!" (Psalm 111:1) Our first focus this week was on being thankful for the families that God gave us. We discussed the story of Ruth and Naomi.
Thank you to Mrs. Jennifer for stepping in when I had to leave early on Friday! Everyone still had a great day!
This week, see if your child can....
1. Read the story of Ruth and Naomi with you again.
2. Practice our Thanksgiving Bible verse.
3. Collect ten leaves and put them in order from smallest to biggest.
4. Make a card for someone they love.
5. Correctly write their name independently using all lowercase letters (except for the first letter).
